I have played both W&W and W8 to completion. I will not play W&W again but I am on my second go through with W8.
My issues with W&W are
1. The really cool classes that can be obtained through quests are generally not available until almost the end of the game. By this point you have no time to develop that character without pointless random combat.
2. Character development was not up to the Wizardry standard.
3. No replay value at all.
W&W was an OK game but in my opinion W8 beats it hands down. Yes the combats can be a bit long at times but the character development and story line just sucked me in. I am from the old days of gaming so I guess I am just used to long combats.
