Ok, in comparing different armors, I have come up with a question. Is there any difference (other than purely armor class) among the various types of armors? For example, compare a good set of leather armor (AC +8) to a set of plate mail (AC +10). Now, there is obviously a difference between these armor classes, but there is also a HUGE difference in the weights of these armors. Is there anything other than JUST the AC difference that warrants using the extra-heavy plate mail/breastplate/chainmail/etc? I know that in some games, the heavier armors made it much more difficult for blows that hit you to actually penetrate (enemies would hit but seldom do damage). However, there is nothing in the description (other than the note on the armor weight) that says that the armors are different other than AC. Could someone please clear this up for me? (Having weight problems and not sure if it is worth it to use plate mail.)
