Yah, Monk & Ran or Nin are a great pair, i only like to add a few Bish levels mostly for the mana pool, even only 5 levels, to get all the spells up to L3, your mana pool increase is worth it. You get to be as good with the staff/wand skill if you go Monk & Nin, only with less ATT/Round (&without the Cane) while you're Bishops. I've been trying to find a balance between the mana pool and developing the fighting, the lowest i've gone permanently to Nin or Monk has been 11, and i think i'm gonna try 8 next time, just one School after L4 spells, it seems that'll be the lowest i'll want my mana pool, i'm a big caster...
You can have a Sam practise Enchanted Blade, Missile Shield, and Shadow Hound, also a REAL BIG increaser is to spend a few days at the 8-pin door bank vault casting Knock-Knock, you get points for it every time, not like the others, which you can only get increases once a day, so you can cast out your mana, rest, repeat. This works for the Alchemy school, too. Just exit the 'open lock' screen if you raise any pins, start up again. I stay at power L5, too, you could open the thing if you get (un)lucky...
