Thats odd,I've never heard of this bug before. Perhaps the ship doesn't land if you are hostile to the Umpani? I wouldn't know for sure though.. i've only tried to destroy their ship while Friendly. I have a question though, what did you do to get the Umpani hostile with you? Z'ant never asks you to perform a mission which involves making yourself hostile to the Umpani UNTIL the mission where he asks you to destroy them. Perhaps the ship refuses to respond to your command since you're an enemy?
What exactly do you mean by 'nothing happening' after the cmoputer says "Landing Sequence Initiated"? Do you hear an Umpani voice saying that they are cancelling their landing? If so, then you have not disconnected the Latch cord. I'm not sure what you mean by 'rubber ship arrestor', but you could mean the latch cord. Make sure that you head out to the runway, and click on the spot where its connected to a metal retainer and it should unhitch and coil into a heap.
