well everyone knows it depends on the two magic stats... your realms skill and the class skill i.e. divinity, psionic etc
dunno if piety/intelligence effects it though
but i DO know that your character level does! (which i found a bit suprising)
see i made a super dooper bishop with all spells and 125 stats accross the board, yet at first level most of the dotes are red or orange, even for low level spells.
might look into it further later on.
i love figuring out things like this
