Nothing else will matter unless you can get the hand curser to show up. I had a little trouble at first too, but when I got right up to the edge of the bridge, the hand showed up for me. Going from memory, I thought it was just in the center of the broken bridge...about the middle of your moniter screen. If that still doesn't work for you, I would just stand as close to the edge of the bridge as I could, close my eyes and walk forward. You'll probably die, but at least you won't have the gouda vine problem to worry about any more
You might want to try stepping back too, maybe you're actually too close?
