My first Might and Magic game was Might and Magic 6. I had never been so addicted to a game since the old AD&D "gold box" games. I loved MM7, but was underimpressed with MM8. While waiting for MM9 to come out, I found out about Wizardry 8 and started playing it. It was very strange to me at the time and I kept comparing it to the MM series. In my mind, I was just using Wizardry 8 as a game to fill the gap until the release of MM9. Now I have MM9 and IT seems to be strange. I've had to relearn how to do everything and now I keep comparing IT to Wizardry. Now I really appreciate the beauty and depth of Wizardry 8. I think that it may take some time, but I won't give up on MM9 yet. I know the thrill of adventure and discovery I felt with MM6, and I'm hoping that I will be able to recapture that with MM9. It's hard to compare games when the method of movement, fighting, etc. are different. Each game will usually have it's own strong points, and perhaps it comes down to familiarity with a game. I tend to immerse myself in CRPGs and suddenly switching to a different one is difficult and frustration results, because it's not exactly like the one I've gotton used to and grown to love. I think that MM9 has a lot to offer and I encourage people to try it. It's NOT like Wizardry 8, but the MM series has become an icon in it's own right. Now, however, I am faced with the problem... Will a Wizardry 9 ever be released? Sigh.
