Yep, the righteous goofball is in love. He pines away when they are apart. He is smitten, I guess it was his first? To cure him of his carnal desires, puppy love, whatever it may be, he has to leave the area and then come back to her in her little temple (thru the portal). Then kill her. Not sure if this fits the romantic model of true love, maybe more of the "forbidden love" sort of tale. Their love was not destined to be! As Scott Adams (Dilbert) once wrote about Babylon 5 (paraphrased) "And it has interspecies sex..way cool!"
