I agree. You only lose out on a better party by not leveling and giving yourself your stat upgrades as well as new spells.
As I see it, not leveling for a long time to make things easier is a kind of exploit or way of cheating. If you don't mind cheating and making the game as easy as possible, then so be it. I personally get no enjoyment from making a game as easy as possible. I never use cheat codes or methods to get by. It's bad enough we can save/reload just to get things the way we want it.
If your looking for a way to get your spell points up heres one way. These spells I always have up no matter where I am, this way I dont have to cast them while in battle. This makes all the difference in the world. Armorplate, Enchant Blade, Missle Shield and Magic Screen. After every time you camp or these spells disappear, recast all of them at your first level of dark orange. Quite quickly you will be able to cast all of these at power 7 green. They will then last 2 complete camps and some walking around.
A game is only as good as you make it. Sitting around casting knock knock will make you better, but what fun is that. Use your abilities as much as you can while you are playing. It's more realistic and more fun that way.
