For polearms - Bela in Mt. Wilderness sells a nice spear.
Rod similar to the Prototype mindrod that Sadok(t'rang merchant) sells has better dmg but slightly less stat effects & no spell charges.
South East Wilderness has a sword called "Fang" thats a placed item so it will be there every game you play. Vorpal blade which is a decent sword is a random drop on Rapax patrol mobs in Mt. WIlderness.(its not really common drop but it isnt rare either).
