I absolutely *loved* Arcanum, even though it's very different from any CRPG I've ever played. The extreme flexibility of character creation and lack of well-defined character classes is a little hard to get used to (you basically define a character by race, chosen skills and whether they lean toward tech or magick).

It was huge fun to play, though.

Edited to add: I bought Arcanum not really sure whether I'd like it or not, right after I set fire to my copy of Pool of Radiance.
