I think the break point to generate a new level of monsters is every level with 5 inside: 5, 15, 25...

So I suspect you bumped in monsters from level 15-24 with your level 22. That makes it easy. Just level up to 25 then go back AP and you will see. I went to AP to make some XPs when I was arround level 18 and that was hard but fun. But if I come back now my team is level 20 and more it will be much much easier.

I suspect that if I speed up a little the game I will enter AP for the final round with a team arround level 22. That mean it will be very easy. I even thinking to level up to 25 before the end. But I'm not sure your level do affect the bosses.
