i suppose it depends how many charges it has when you buy it back - if it's 50 say, then that's 16gp x 3 (3 times is the usual mark up a merchant will charge) which gives 48gp - now times that by 50 (the amount of charges - maybe) and it's 2400gp - hmmmm, maybe you're right! that thing will need about 150 odd charges to be fair price - otherwise it's an outrageous mark-up!
