i agree with runiel.

there is SO much experience in this game to be had that it's definitely NO PROBLEM keeping 8 people leveling up constantly. one of my groups is Lvl 36 ish, and even with the big gap between levels (just like BG2, as we seem to be comparing the two here) the "white crosses" still keep popping up regularly.

so, you really should utilize them. in the first part of the game, they help keep you alive, amd afterwards, they are just plain fun as they come into their own (personalities, and skills).
