The gauths can be taken out with a web and cloud kill combo, and then just shoot them to death on the near side of the bridge. Once they are gone keep cloud killing the place cause the beholders(the big ones) can't come across the bridge.
It might take a while and a couple of rests, but I remember not having enough money for that shield when I did the eyeless, so try it out.
