They're just a remarkably potent combination. Think about it: you've got those Death Lords pumping out mental attacks, the Sorceress Queen for elemental attacks, and four or six (I forget which) lesser magic types that can all bring elementals into the equation. It's tough to get close enough to the Death Lords or the Sorceress Queen, since the elementals get in the way, and can't be ignored. And if you destroy an elemental, the summoner can simply summon up a new one.
Personally, it's not a battle I want to fight, at least not before I get Nuclear Blast.
I grab the gadget, run away, and cast an elemental to cover my tracks and halt anybody who follows.
