I see what you mean, in other boards I have seen those damn annoying animated gifs get up to 100k--quite a download--and the fact that they usually contain seizure-enducing flashing doesn't help either.
That's why I like to keep mine under 20k; I know what it like to have a 56k connection, especially when I usually connect at 9k.
