RtCW looks great, image wise... but it's kinda letdown in the rest. it just doesn't really have that spark. it's a solid 3 out of 5, but there's better games.
i have gorasul, and there's a patch that fixes some of the bugs it shipped with. i really like it alot! its a top down game like baldur's gate. and the translation is hilarious. altho some spots it kinda leaves you with that feeling that you just stepped thru a doorway into a parallel universe where you almost understand what's going on, but not quite. LOL. i still don't let it bug me. there's also gonna be a new translation. they are working on it now. should be out soon.
it's very enjoyable tho. and it can be frustrating. the monsters remember things about you. mostly how you travel from map to map and adapt to it. i used to go to the nw corner and hug the edge and scout for red spots on the map, but now, as soon as i land there, i get swamped! it's very challenging that way. always gotta adapt and change your strats on the fly.
before wiz8 came out, i woulda given gorasul a solid 4 out of 5, but i just can't anymore. wiz8 raised the bar again. but dang, i just spent a couple of paragraphs talking about it, so i must still like it. LOL.
there just haven't been that many good rpgs lately. altho, if you like bg and bg2, i recommend getting one more runthru (i've been thru it 4 times) and downloading the new mod for it, The Darkest Day. its an add-in, not add-on. so you have to install bg2 and TDD at the same time and play from the beginning. theres like 100 new spells, all new areas for about 50 hours of play time, monsters brought in from IceWind Dale and newly created ones. it's very cool.
you can get it here.
but you know, lotsa good stuff is coming out soon, from mm9 to neverwinter nights and morrowind. those are the 3 i am waiting for. they are the only things that might possibly break my wiz8 fix.
