Dungeon Craft is very much like Unlimited Adventures in terms of how designs are created. The editor as a different layout, but the concept of levels, events, NPCs, and so on are similar to UA.

The designs you create can be played by anyone, DC does not need to be installed to play a design. Simply save your design and zip up the design folder. The default behavior of the editor is to *not* include the game executable in the design folder. The executable can be added to a design zip manually, or users can download the game executable separately from the DC site.

UA and DC are geared towards creating RPGs in the style of the original AD&D Gold Box games from SSI. Unlimited Adventures was an editor that allowed creating your own Gold Box design. It has limitations, several of them have been overcome by hacks. Some things can't be fixed though, such as the 256 color display and limits on event text. DC is an attempt to provide a modernized update to UA. Along the way several enhancements have been made at user request. There is an active group still devoted to UA, those interested should check out this site:

There are numerous resources and designs available for UA. There are a few designs in the works for DC.
