I just feel that the underlying philosophy being espoused is just a tad too easily spotted once you've got a few years behind you and know some stories aren't told just to be stories, but are instead meant to be hidden advertisements for certain ethics, morals and religions.

Despite being as easily seen through, though, I always felt Death Gate was better written and in general a better story than Dragonlance.
