<font color=plum>Well, he/she is correct that such movies wouldn't be made if they weren't going to make a profit or at least break even. But I do not agree with severa other things said in that post.
Boycotting a film won't be very effective because it would simply be impossible to get a significantly large number of people to agree NOT to see it. Several people had probably
already decided NOT to see it because they don't like what was done to other games in similar movies, but those who are interested in the movie probably will NOT agree to NOT go see it just because this dude has his panties in a wad over it. Seriously, if I came on here and started saying "DO NOT GO SEE THE NEW DOOM MOVIE", how many of you would say "Hmmm, Cerek has a point" and how many would say "If he doesn't want to see it that's fine, but he isn't gonna tell ME which movie to see or not see".
Personally, I think this guy needs to get a life. It's silly to get THAT upset over a film. I'm a big comic fan and I am VERY happy to finally see lots of "superhero" movies being made. And even though some of them (such as Punisher and Daredevil) aren't nearly as well done and exciting as others (Spiderman and X-Men), I still enjoyed them.
And I am VERY glad Peter Jackson finally undertook the epic task of turning the greatest fantasy trilogy into a series of movies. So no, I do NOT wish "they" would STOP making movies about video games and books. I didn't go see Alone in the Dark and I won't go see the Doom movie, because I am not a huge fan of those games and don't really care about a movie made about them.
Finally, the language in that post pushes the limit of what is acceptable on this post, and the open encouragement to pirate the movies and/or buy bootleg copies is a DIRECT TOS violation. You might want to be a bit more cautious about posting comments from other forums here.
