Ah, Fullmetal Alchemist- great. Love it. Absolutely HUGE in Japan, where it just finished running with 51 episodes. Thing with Fullmetal is that aside from Bones, it was virtually unknown- the manga author had never published anything before, the voice actors were relative n00bs (Paku Romi, Ed's VA, was in one episode of RahXephon. That's all I can remember her for), it was a relatively new concept- and really, really popular [img]tongue.gif[/img] .

That's just it, though- to balance all the heavy angst and the small children being ripped to pieces and the sheer evilness of Envy, they needed to add some humour, so you got Hughes with his pictures of his daughter, Ed;s height (or lack of it) and Roy's miniskirts. The humour kinda vanishes in the second half of the series, though Izumi- episode 27 onwards- is awesome.

Manga!Winry is kickass. Anime Winry started off kickass, and around the 30s became annoying for me. Though she's not as bad as those two bloody Ishbal brats, Rick and Leo
