As for uplifting... it's extremely uplifting. O.k. forget his deity for a minute, his courage, strength, endurance, calmness, the way he gave to those around him, even when he was at his lowest is a compelling example. Praying for his enemies, consoling his grieving mother. He even counsels Pilate, counsels the co-crucified theif. Jesus, was far from benign, even in death.

It is often said something is measured by what it comes up against. His spirit was never broken. You are a pacifist. His response and example are compelling examples. "He who lives by the sword dies by the sword" he says to those that would fight for him. You NEED to see the film Chewbacca.
Fair enough. I too have beliefs that, according to my path of faith, generally apply to everyone, whether they believe or not. So I can't fault anyone for it the same. Like I said before, it certainly can't hurt me that you beleive that anymore than my beleifs could hurt you. But enough about that, in respect of the house rules.

I understand how you and many others will find upliftment from the film. I respect that and do not seek to diminish that.

Oh, and DVD works just fine for me. Even a great home theater system is no replacement for the big screen, but works good enough for me and I can smoke, drink, and eat what I want, pause and sit on my comfy couch. Turn it up loud enough and the only big difference is the size of the screen.
