Hurry up, GRR Martin, you're worrying us. I mean, check the dude out -- he ain't in the world's best health, y'know. I'm just hoping he gets the tale done before... well... before he goes on a diet, gets his cholesterol down, and starts looking like he could walk a flight of stairs.

Tell you what, Timber...I'm up to Book 3 of the Malazan Book of The Fallen series (Memories of Ice) and I have to say that Erikson's caught up to GRRM as my alltime fave author ever.
It was REALLY confusing at the start of the series, because Erikson just pitches you in the middle of things without any background. You'll be befuddled for about 100 pages...then things will slowly start to make sense. In other words...you will begin to approach comprehension. And by the end of the first book, you're hooked. And halfway through the second, you'll be dreaming about Erikson's world.

And even in Book 3, there's so many things that are unknown - the unknown part really, REALLY makes you want to read on (kind of like the Others in Westeros).
The best part about Erikson though, is that he writes great stuff QUICKLY.
