But he jumps that same way in the comic books. In fact, I thought he jumped higher (and ran slower) in the comic books than in the movie.

Yep. He has no superpowers, no overly superpowered equipment (thinking Batman here). He has some high tech stuff, but not really much better than SHIELD agents get. He just has hardcore training and hardcore (i.e. take out criminals at all costs) attitude.
