This guy has just become my favourite fantasy author ever. I thought Goodkind was good, and I love Salvatore and Cunningham, and I'm trying to get into Feist, but this guy wins hands down. Not much magic in his world, but what is there really makes an impact. And boy is it EVOCATIVE - he has a way of writing that really lets your imagination run wild. In my mind's eye I can see Eddard Stark facing Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning, deadliest of the Kingsguard, in the round tower of joy at the foothills of Dorne. And his world seems much more REAL. Since I bought the Song of Fire and Ice series I have read and re-read and RE-READ them over and over and OVER again - I am so looking forward to the next one!!
