As for the Balrog taking down Sauron in a fight, I doubt it. Gandalf defeated the Balrog, and being an Istarì, he was not allowed to match Sauron in strength. Therefore, he is "weaker" than Sauron, but "stronger" than the Balrog. You do the math.
