This is coming out of left field but….
The next book is called the Order of the Phoenix and by no small coincidence Dumbledore is the proud owner of a phoenix. The phoenix has already attached itself to Harry and given that any phoenix is by nature not only a fiercely loyal bird but basically immortal as well. And given that a great fan of Harry’s dies. I am wondering if it isn’t Dumbledore who dies leaving his phoenix to Harry.
