All right, here we go:

Corund took this in good part. “If all drow were like you, milady, you would have naught to complain of. At any rate the princess, here, thinks that you might want to hear my tale. Is that true?” At her nod, he went on. “Well, we were on our way to see you and your good lord, my lady. A pack of drow attacked us, and my one thought was for my princess to win through. So, I told her to fly and me and the rest of the escort took ‘em on. I was fightin’, and suddenly everything went black. I guess that they hit me over the head with something’, ‘cause it was pretty sore before you put your good word on it. Any ways, I woke up trussed like a bird meant for the spit. They was talkin’ in Drow, which I can’t understand, then one of them, a woman, came up to me to say, in Common, ‘You, big elf, you will be my sacrifice to Lloth if your bitch princess gets away. But if I catch her, I will just kill you, for you are too big to carry.’ Well, that cast me down, a lot, but I thought, at least the Princess got away, and I did my duty. I got beaten and such by some of the men, when they passed me, and I heard two of them saying to me, ‘sacrifice.’ Then, there was a big ado, and I heard horses and the noises of a scuffle as I lay there, wishin’ that I had my staff in hand and could go help whoever it was that was takin’ it out of the drow. I heard some wailing, and all of the drow ran past me, payin’ me no mind. Then my sweet lass here comes up and frees me. That’s all I know.”
Attalus broke in. “It seems that you did your duty and more, Corund. I am Attalus. Take the princess and go on to Baldur’s Gate when she is through, here.” He slipped the elf a coin. “Here, drink my health tonight, and my good wife’s. “ As the satisfied bodyguard went off, he turned to Viconia. “Sweet, that was quite a war party, with a priestess at the head. Is there some festival in the Underdark that they would risk a force like that just to get a sacrifice?”
“I know of none such, husband,” she responded grimly, “but if this dead one wanted a favor of Lloth, she would have wanted a sacrifice highly pleasing to her. I wonder…” She stooped and picked the snake head whip still clenched in the stiffening hand. The snakes were hanging limply, now, for they were enlivened by the magic of their late mistress. “Sometimes documents are stored in the handle…ah.” She had touched a stud that released a circular lid in the handle of the whip. She tried peering into the cavity, but it was too dark, and she dared not blindly reach in, for there was the chance of a poisoned needle or such. Better to proceed with caution. Besides, Imoen was in town, and if there were a trap, she would find it.
