I understand the notion that all the dragons just starve and die, with no way of reproducing. But when the dragons were hungry before, they fed on humans. Now, with the male dead, do they somehow not like to eat humans anymore and leave them in peace. Somehow, I think if they were intelligent, they would totally waste the remaining humans for no other purpose than to eat.
But anyway, let's not get caught up in the holes and just enjoy the movie for what it is.
