Oooo, that's a tricky one. That's one of those 'schism' questions; Is Glorfindel the SAME Glorfindel that defeated a Balrog? Do Balrogs have wings? Who killed the Witch King?
Personally speaking, I sit firmly on the 'Eowyn' side of the fence. She ammed her sword through the Witch-King's face, while Merry just kneecapped him - and then he vanished. It makes more sense from a dramatic/stroy point of view for Eowyn to do it, because that makes her very much the tragic heroine, wheras the Hobbits are mainly our 'eyes' in the book.
But then, I am but one man. It deends who you speak to.
