Daniel, just go into ANY large bookstore, find the enquiries desk or if they don't have one go to the till, and ask them to order the books you want - have the authors name and the book titles you want written down so you can give the exact details. Most book shops will be happy to do this for you - you then have to wait a week or two for the delivery to be made, then you go pick up the books and pay for them - the shop will keep them in the storeroom or behind the till for you - some stores will even phone you when the books are delivered, other stores you have to keep checking with them every few days. No credit card required!
A good book shop should also be able to take your order by phone if you can't get to town straight away.

Good bookshops in Manchester to try (both are large chains who will order stock from another store or the warehouse):

Dillons, 2-4 St Anns Square, Tel. 0161 832 0424

Waterstones, 91 Deansgate, Tel. 0161 832 1992

I might just do that, I have never asked them to order for me before as I feel cheeky asking(but as you said they will probabally be happy to obliege). So why shouldn't I ask ,thanx for the advice anyway.
