If you look at it like that, everything is comercialism, event things such as teaching and the armed forces are marketed
But at least in the UK we don't pay VAT on books!
If you want fantasy stories which don't follow the "standard" route, just try many of the latest authors [BTW I'm sure you do
] such as Steven Erikson, James Barclay and Robin Hobbs
