Go out and find the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.

The series is very engrossing and thought provoking.

Any series by David Gemmel, man this cat can write a mean book...

Of course, my personal favorite authors include Micheal Moorcock and Harlan Ellison... All of their OmniBus series are great
