Salvatore is the author of choice it seems. He has a long line of books based on Drizzt, plus a good series called the cleric quintet. I'd recommend starting out with Homeland by him I think, then reading through that trilogy and then the next one called the Icewind Dale trilogy. After that you can continue with Drizzt and Co's adventures or break for a bit and read his Cleric quintet, which will set the stage for some events in future books about Drizzt.
Other popular authors are Elaine Cunningham and Troy Denning. I enjoyed Denning's Twilight Giants trilogy a lot.
