Hmm, went looking for some Salvatore to try at the bookshop today - response was "Who's he, what does he write, sorry, we don't have much call for him". It sounded a bit like the Monty Python sketch - didn't ask them about "Ethyll the Aardvark goes Quantity Surveying" though

. Did pick up the latest Pratchett and the last Robin Hobb of the Liveship series (nearly finished the 2nd one, picked it up on 6th Avenue NY). I will try for some Salvatore again when I get up to the Big Smoke (Perth) on the weekend - they have specialty SF/Fantasy stores.
And for the poll - RIFTWAR is superior - the serpentwar was just a pale imitation. I guess the waiting 4 or 5 years between Magician and A Darkness at Sethannon might have had something to do with the anticipation factor in my case.
