I have just finished reading "Quest for the White Witch" by Tanith Lee and am thoroughly dissapointed. The whole thing was crammed with exposition, no revelling in the moment, a distinct lack of descriptive writing (almost as bad as Enid Blyton on this occassion and thats bad). After a few chapters I new that I wouldn't like it, not only that but the main character who portrayed himself as a heroic individual not only dominated and used people displaying no redeeming features whatsoever, but never had it hard. His sorcerous powers knew no bounds, even ressurecting him unconsciously from death and sustaining his body for months on end without food. The general abundance of high powered antics was only made up for by the protagonist's reticence to use his power. I was also partially turned off by the fact that it was written in the first person, I normally prefer third person writing but I wish to make it clear that I have read other things by Lee and thoroughly enjoyed them. This was just a bad reading but a fairly unbiased review (I might even sell it).
