I remember Psylence (forgot the proper spelling) mentioned a few times about clean-up scripts. Perhaps a few of those would be in order? That way the game is not trying to remember items left behind after five to ten minutes, and would be able to just spawn in new creatures the way it ought to be? Sure, that would make it a little more difficult for carpetbaggers like myself to make a profit from the leftovers of others (which is, of course, how I made my first one million gold), but it would definitely be beneficial to the server as a whole.
I have no idea how they are implimented, or the workings behind said scripts, but I know they are on many of the Persistent Worlds I have heard being successful. And as Escape From Undermountain is already a success, it cannot hurt to use clean-up scripts to make it even better. (At least it should become faster.)
