I have tried dragging from spellbook to this bar but nothing sticks. Is it just for show? I refuse to believe they'd make a fake minbar simply to take up room?

Not sure what the little icon thing means. I do like the quickcast bar, but it would be even better if you could drag spells down from it to quickbar instead of using the spellbar.
