Hmmm wierd problem to have with Windows XP. This usually happens on Window 98.

Find out more about your video card because I agree that may be the culprit.

Go to your Start menu select run and type dxdiag and press enter. A screen with your system info should pop-up. Click on the display tab to see your video card info.
