Arcane Archer requires at least 1 level of an arcane spell casting class.

For a fighter/ranger/paladin/barbarian to become an arcane archer they must be elven/half elven, meet all the feats and requirements and be able to cast arcane spells, e.g have at least 1 level of wizard. Then you should be able to advance in AA.
