hmm - i'd assumed that the chess game was just a 'mini-level' with nothing more to see - i've had a quick look a walkthrough site and the chessboard doesn't feature - i think you've done everything

EDIT: i might have misread you - if by 'last floor' you mean the one with the ice, fire, slime and ?other? one that you defeated then you might have more of that to do - i'm not sure myself whether you can go back - in theory i guess you could but the doors are a bit confusing in durlag's - sorry if i mislead you
