Check out the Epic Dwarven Defender as well; the damage resistance increases with three points every four levels and you get Damage Reduction on the Epic Bonus Feats list. And it's a d12 class. Imagine a Barbarian/ Dwarven Defender.

This PrC has 'Tank' written all over it.

I have waited to see the Red Dragon Disciple as well, but the game hit the stores December 2. They only release new material on Wednesdays and the next is December 3.
