Just save before the trial and work yourself through the options. I got four out of five the first time around and all five the second time around. As Nerull said, stick to the facts and avoid the racist issue as you can't really prove it.
Also talk to all people involved, and once you've done that, talk to them one more time just to be on the safe side.
