Each henchman gives an item that is useful to their class and boosts an ability score. Each chapter you get an improved version of the same item.
Tomi's is the ring of the rouge and you get a + to dex for example. I dont recall all the items but
Gamefaqs has some excellent walkthroughs and items lists that should have the particulars of each.
