The only one I can answer is the one about starting position. To your right and at the top of the screen, there is the icon of the little red arrow with a white circle around it. Click on it, then with your cursor, click on the place on the map where you wish your character to start. With the newly placed arrow on the map, you can then change the direction the character would be facing by working the directions arrows at the bottom right of the toolset...the ones that are arrows circling around. One rotates to the left, and the other to the right. If you palce the starting arrow in a location that the character is not allowed to start in, like a lava pit...then the toolset will tell you of the error.
