Sorcerers have a much more limited spell books. They get a set number of spells and that's it. They get to cast them more often is all. Wizards can chose from a larger spell variety and cast fewer of them. Basically a Sorcerer should be well thought out and should specialize. I have a friend who built a very powerful Enchantress. Who was outstandung against living creatures, but was completely useless against Undead. Chosing spells carefully is a must. Wizards can chose more diverse spells and are therefore more adaptable. A Necromancer Wizard is still effective againt the living. Because they are likely to have a few spells that are outside their area.
It boils down to what you like in the end.
