Umm... perhaps in my pre coffee daze I was unclear, after discovering that I was full I stoned to the temple to sell and by, yes i have magic bags and bags of holding however I have also a 23 str so encumberment is not an issue.

****CLARIFICATION******
Once my inventory was cleared of all extranious items and I returned to the spot where it had dropped. I attempted to pick up the astral blade and return it to my weapon slot. However it could not be picked up, neither by opening inventory and dragging it to an empty spot... or by clicking on it with the inventory window closed. However I could mouse over the item and view its name, which displayed in a orangy color... and a hand icon would apear as if I should be able to grab the item.

I found it to be very frusterating not only was that worth 4k but the sonic damage is often the only thing that effects bosses.
