Hi all
Does anyone else think that computer game companies are spinning their wheels a little too fast and trying to create way to much hype about games these days?
I mean if the NWN team had just come out and said it’ll take two to three years to develop the game (or whatever it’s going to take) and then started with the screen shots and information about now. (2-3 months before release of the game. (Hopefully))
Does anyone think that they would get fewer sales?
I personally am really looking forward to playing the game.
But I’m also really sick to death of hearing about how fantastic the game is in one breath, and being told that there is no release date -- so you can’t play it! -- with the next.
So now they’ve given us a release date.
I read a comment from a member of the NWN team saying spring 2002. Then they had the trouble with the distributor and now it’s “summer 2002”
So does that really mean Christmas? Are they just stinging us along?
I’d love to play it. -- I expect it will be as good or better than the BG series.
But I’m sick of the hype – and I think when you get sick of the hype -- then at some level that gets transferred to the game.
I think the NWN team is walking a fine line -- because they have given out so much information for so long and hyped the gamers up so much.
IF there are any problems with the game or IF it doesn’t live up to the hype that they have created -- then the frustration many people feel about not being to get their hands on the game will then get shifted onto the game it self.
We all saw it happen with POR2 -- they dug their own grave with their mistakes. But would we have been as critical and as frustrated IF we hadn’t been so hyped up about the game by the company?
Just interested in your thoughts.
PS (as another point)
Morrowind is being released very soon (i read march??)-- i've played arena and daggerfall and hadn't heard that they were doing Morrowind till recently -- so i'm just looking forward to playing it.
not lookig forward to playing it AND dreading every mention of the game that dosn't contain the words "has gone gold"
sorry for the long post.
