My son Jason has just finished the game for the first time. Here is a story he wrote about his ratling that ended up walking around carrying a stoned red dragon.
I, Eribo,a little ratling, after killing Cet with my friends, decided to increase my skill in blessing and enchants before becoming a Zenmaster.
Starting as a thief, and then becoming a bard, for Moon spells, and picking up the rest of them as a ninja before switching to an Assassin for Fiend magic. My main goal was to get Stone magic so I could bless for AC bonuses. But I decided to get the other books too. My plan to do so was: become a paladin, get Spirit spells and crusade, then shift to ranger and get Vine spells (I couldn't get fletchery because I got into the Warriors' Guild too late.), then transfer to samurai and for Sun spells, and finally become a Zenmaster and get Stone.
My friends, being nice people, lent me their best equipment, which consisted of: the Mavin Signet, the Divine Sigil, Plate of the Realm, and a few healing potions (64 heals and 3 restore healths) and a mana max. They also held onto the stuff I didn't need like my bow, old armor, and rings.
Then I went to the temple to see how to become a paladin. I was told I had to say "Sanctus holy," whatever that meant, to the Altar of Serran. In my travels I had found two; one, back near Valeia by Herespia the Gypsy, the other is by Collasium. The latter being closer, I decided to head for it.
To get there, I decided to go through Anephas' Shrine. (Looking back on this, I should have teleported to my portal at Cet's Pyramid and walked back from there.) Right outside the Shrine, when I was walking along, suddenly a jungle lily hit me with his poison gas. I ran at him and hit him as hard as I could with my swords that I had blessed for damage. I killed him quickly, but still ended up poisoned (I definitely should have teleported). I wasn't poisoned that bad so I decided to continue, and since my friends would laugh if I didn't come back a paladin. Into the Shrine I went, but nothing much happened in there.
On the other side I decided to borrow Bloodbeard's ship. Then I sailed down to where I remembered the Altar of Serran had been. Going ashore, I was greeted by a red dragon. Having left my bow at home I couldn't shoot arrows at it, and since all red dragons always fly and never get tired, I had to resort to magic.
I used up all my spell points using lifesteel, (since I was still poisoned), and iceball. When I didn't have enough spell points for lifesteel, I tried pain. That didn't work. After all that I barely got him yellow lined. I tried to use my mana max potion, but I couldn't use it on myself, so I used my evil eye trait. I ended up paralyzing him and he fell to the ground, so I went up and pounded on him. He woke back up with my first hit so I went back to evil eye. This time I stoned him. Leaving him there, I went to the Altar and said, "Sanctus holy." When I came back, he was still there so I picked him up in my little ratling arms and scurried back to Bloodbeard's ship, loaded him on to sail home. As I sailed, I got a few spell points and used them up on him as denomic fists and spectral raven.
I got to the Shrine and realized I couln't get him past it. I tried to vanish him to the other side of the trees, but my spell failed. Giving him up for lost, I went into the shrine. On the trapdoor checkerboard, I remembered that the fountain there could recharge my mana.
So I went back outside to finish him off. I tried icestorm; it didn't hurt him. I tried iceball; it didn't work either. After a while, I found out freeze and frostbreath hurt him. In Fiend, I found out pain still did not hurt him, and I didn't risk bloodbath. When he was stone, fist and lifesteed still hurt him. Using mostly Fiend, I finished him off and teleported home to become a paladin.
When I told my friends my story, they didn't believe me. Saying stuff like: "Yeah, right," "You didn't visit the tavern after coming in did you?" and, "We've never seen red dragons down there, what can they live on?"
